The Burden of Violence (2020)
Debut EP by Jazz Calls Home · Art by Simon Renström

The Burden of Violence (2020) is the first EP released under Jazz Calls Home. Born from Jazz’s chaotic displacement in late 2019, the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the failures and abuses of power within the Colombian political system, the EP translates a period of profound instability into sound.
While writing The Burden of Violence, Jazz was diagnosed with PTSD. Experiences of hypervigilance, paranoia and flashbacks shaped the record’s sound, with repetitive, entrancing synths used to evoke the looping and fragmented nature of a mind attempting to process trauma.
